Lautaro Martinez will not go to Barcelona. In an interview given to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport‘, he revealed that he was going to renew at Inter Milan. He admitted that, a year ago, Barcelona tried to tempt him, but he told Antonio Conte not to worry because he wanted to stay at Inter.
Lautaro Martinez’s Inter contract runs until 2023. But there is nothing to worry about: the Argentine will stay past then.
The striker confirmed to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ that he is going to renew his contract. “I’m not leaving Inter in the summer. I’ll extend my contract soon. My plan is to stay here for a long time,” he clearly stated.
He confessed that Barca tried to persuade him to try his luck at the Camp Nou. “Yes, Barcelona wanted me a year back. But I said to Conte: ‘Don’t worry, I’m focussed on Inter,” Martinez revealed.
Although in that moment he admitted that he had thought about it, now he only wants to keep on making the Inter faithful happy: “Barca for me is in the past, I’m staying at Inter,” he concluded.
That Barca tried to buy him is no secret. His compatriot Hernan Crespo also said a few days back that he advised Lautaro to turn down any Barcelona offer. “I told him not to go to Barca and I was right.” Source,: besoccer.com
