Cristiano Ronaldo will not have to self-isolate for two weeks after attending the Globe Soccer Awards because he has received special permission. That has caused lots of controversy in Italy.
Cristiano Ronaldo travelled this Sunday to Dubai to attend the Globe Soccer Awards because he was nominated for Player of the Year (with Messi and Lewandowski) and Player of the Century (with Messi, Ronaldinho and Salah).
However, the Portuguese star has caused controversy because he will not have to quarantine after travelling to the UAE.
The Juventus striker left Italy after the winter break, but there is anger in Italy over the fact that footballers do not have to quarantine like everybody else.
Those who come from abroad have to self-isolate, but players will be allowed to return to training immediately.
‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ says there are no problems with this. Footballers can make sure they only come into contact with the rest of the team and make sure they are tested regularly on their return.
In other words, players who travel abroad will have to cancel their social activites, but they will be allowed to play football for their clubs. That means CR7 will be available to face Udinese on 3rd January.
