N’Golo Kante reportedly has no intention of leaving Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window unless the club force him out. Reports from Spain this week claimed Barcelona want to use Kante as a makeweight in a transfer deal that would see Philippe Coutinho join Chelsea. Goal report Kante is happy in London and would not be interested in pushing for a transfer. Kante has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but neither of those sides appeal to the midfielder.
PSG have long coveted Kante, but the Frenchman is reluctant to return to his home country after various off-the-pitch issues with former agents and advisors. Kante is also not keen on a switch to Madrid where he expects he would play a back-up role to Casemiro. Chelsea have struggled to keep Kante fit this season as the 29-year-old has suffered various injuries throughout the campaign.
Kante has missed 20 games due to injury this season, but he remains settled at the club. Frank Lampard has a host of options in his midfield and Billy Gilmour has recently stepped up to the first-team. Kante earns £290,000 a week at Chelsea as the club’s top earner, but the Blues have reservations about his long-term fitness.
A move to Barcelona might interest Kante, but Chelsea will need to be the driving force behind the transfer. The summer transfer window, however, is likely to be moved if postponed games are to be played in the coming months. The coronavirus pandemic has forced football to go into shutdown and Chelsea have not played since their 4-0 win over Everton on March 8.
